My 15yo son gone to TAF Clinic for his circumcision. In fact, we enquired several clinics before deciding to go with TAF. One clinic was concerned about my son’s heart condition, others only do for babies or adults (although their websites state for all age group), some cost $7-9k. I WhatsApp TAF on Thursday 12 June after their operating hours. Next morning they replied with the cost breakdown. I requested for the earliest slot as I didn’t want this to affect my son school attendance. Surgery was then arranged on next Monday 16 June. That was super fast, even my son couldn’t believe that we managed to secured a slot so quickly. TAF does not require us to go down for consultation before surgery. First consultation and surgery can be done on the same day, which save our time for travelling and me taking extra leave from work. During the surgery, parents are allowed to accompany our kids in the surgery room. They are also allowed to bring in phone/gadgets to distract themselves.

After my son’s 2nd week of the circumcision, he felt more pain then usual and we worried if he has infection. The staff immediately arranged for us to see Dr Taufiq next day and luckily all went well. That pain was normal during the healing process.

Dr Taufiq is assurance and patience with our queries. He is an expert in this area as we saw other parents and kids of different age during our visits. Dr Taufiq and his staff are friendly and accommodating. We feel at ease talking to them. TAF even have a small but mighty drink corner, cheers!!!

Shang Ring Circumcision

Shang Ring (For Ages 6 & Up)
A stitch-free method using a medical clamp, suitable for boys aged 6 and above. The procedure is quick, with minimal bleeding and a lower risk of complications.

Procedure Time: Around 10–15 minutes
Pain Level: Mild; most patients experience minor discomfort that subsides within 1–2 days.
Recovery: The ring typically falls off or is removed after about a week. Healing is usually complete within 4–6 weeks.
Downtime: Most patients can return to school or daily routines in just 1-2 weeks.

ZSR Stapler Circumcision

ZSR Stapler (For Ages 18 & Up)
A modern, no-stitch device that removes and seals the foreskin in a single step. Designed for clean results and faster healing compared to traditional methods.

Procedure Time: Around 10–15 minutes
Pain Level: Mild to moderate discomfort, managed with oral pain relief.
Recovery: Staples naturally fall off in 10–14 days. Full healing typically occurs within 4–6 weeks.
Downtime: Most patients can resume work or normal activities within 1-2 weeks (except for intense physical activity or intimacy).

Dr. Muhammad Taufiq Bin Rashid is officially certified as a Trainer for the ZSR Disposable Circumcision Anastomat.

With over 15 years of experience in clinical practice and healthcare management, Dr Muhammad Taufiq Rashid focuses on men’s health and weight management. He is also a member of the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM), reflecting his continued commitment to men’s wellness.

His care approach incorporates evidence-based medical procedures and tailored solutions designed to meet individual needs.

Dr Taufiq’s professional background spans a range of medical disciplines, equipping him with the knowledge and skills to guide patients in achieving their health goals. He is certified in circumcision techniques using the Shang Ring and ZSR Stapler methods, offering efficient and minimally invasive procedures completed in less than 15 minutes.

Education, Experience & Affiliations

Dr. Taufiq began his medical career as a Medical Officer under MOHH from 2006 to 2014, gaining valuable experience in multidisciplinary healthcare at Alexandra Hospital, KK Hospital, Bright Vision Hospital, and AMK THK Hospital.

From July 2017 to March 2021, he served as Chief Resident Physician at DTAP Clinic Somerset Branch, focusing on men’s health and providing holistic, patient-centered care.

As Medical Director at Pulse Medical Centre from April 2021 to December 2024, Dr. Taufiq led multidisciplinary care and advanced patient-first practices.

He holds certifications in ShangRing Circumcision, ZSR Stapler Circumcision, SCOPE certification, and ShangRing Training (Wuhu, Snnda, 2018). He is also a Certified Trainer for ShangRing Circumcision, ZSR Stapler Circumcision, Touchstone Circumcision, and the Storz T-Top Duolith Shockwave Therapy Machine.

In 2024, he completed the Androcourse under the Society of Men’s Health Singapore. Dr. Taufiq is a member of the Society of Men’s Health Singapore (SMHS), the Singapore Association for the Study of Obesity (SASO), and the International Society of Sexual Medicine (ISSM), reflecting his ongoing commitment to men’s health and weight management.

FAQs About Circumcision

Is there an age limit for your procedures?

Yes. Dr. Taufiq currently offers the Shang Ring method for boys aged 6 and above, and the ZSR Stapler method is strictly for adults.

At this time, circumcision services are not available for babies or children under 6 years old at TAF Clinic.

What’s the aftercare required after procedure?

Aftercare is simple and clearly explained to each patient.

For Shang Ring patients, the device is left in place and removed after about 7 days, with hygiene instructions to keep the area dry and clean.

For ZSR Stapler patients, small staples are left in place to fall off naturally in 1–2 weeks. In both cases, Dr. Taufiq will provide you (or your child) with specific cleaning guidelines, activity restrictions, and follow-up care to support a smooth recovery.

Is the procedure and recovery painful?

Both procedures are designed to be as comfortable as possible. No injections are required — only a numbing cream is applied to the area for about 45 minutes before the procedure begins.

Shang Ring: Most children experience only mild discomfort for the first 1–2 days.
ZSR Stapler: Adults may feel moderate soreness for a few days, easily managed with oral painkillers. Dr. Taufiq ensures patient comfort at every step, from preparation to post-procedure care.
